Hi there, I am Giulia
I'm a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Rome, Italy.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What started as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of my life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Italy wasn’t in the plan we had mapped out. Like many transfers abroad, it started as a job lead and soon grew into something far larger.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more intricate than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and started building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Open Harbor Mint
Most online information leaned toward corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a truthful, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice rooted in real life in Italy.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Italy continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Giulia
